Golden Beach holidays have all the ingredients for kids to build castles, and for grown-ups to get active with a wealth of watersports – so you can potter about on a pedalo, go sailing or windsurfing, get the adrenalin going with paragliding, or just wander along the water’s edge and enjoy the sports as a spectator.

At the northern end of a big bay, the village of Chryssi Ammoudia (that’s Golden Beach in Greek) is set back from the sea on a pine cloaked hillside. Along the main road running through the village, there’s a clutch of tavernas, a handful of bars and a mini-market … and that’s about it. But while summer holidays to Golden Beach are quietly secluded, they’re not isolated. Water taxis soon whisk you round the tip of the island to Thassos Town – for shopping, sightseeing, nightlife and eateries.

his superb beach is located 12 km aouth west of Limenas and south of Makriamos Beach. It stretches along the coast between the resorts of Skala Panagias and Skala Potamias. Chrissi Ammoudia (Golden Sand) is among the most beautiful and popular beaches of Thassos.

It is long, with golden sand and crystalline waters, and it is surrounded by dense vegetation reaching down to the sea. It is a well organized beach and its shallow waters are ideal for children. Mount Ypsarion rises over the bay, adding another beautiful touch to the whole scenery.
